Fifty years ago, a song planted a seed in my heart that would one day grow and inspire me to cultivate love — Dr. Ken McGill

Nearly fifty years ago, when I first heard these lyrics from Stevie Wonder’s album Songs in the Key of Life (1976), I had no idea they would quietly begin shaping a path that would one day culminate in Cultivating Love.

It has inspired me to go to pursue higher education, 2 years of inner-city ministry post-college, 14 years of work in Skid Row in Los Angeles, 4 years of counseling at a University Counseling Center, 4 years of work at a behavioral health hospital in Mississippi, numerous trips to Uganda and Ethiopia in service to others and for the past 18 years helping others to cultivate love in their marriage and families. I’m so thankful for the inspiration and guidance I received from my God, the life-changing “message music” of Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire, and for the help, love, assistance and opportunity to cultivate love.

My hope is that you will be inspired, as I have been, to commit your life to cultivating and expressing consistent love toward others, because the people of this world, and the planet we share, are deeply in need of it.
