Like many of you, I have now viewed more Presidential debates during this election season than I have ever viewed in my life. After viewing hours of debates of both the Republican and Democratic parties, I am convinced more than ever that the next President of the United States needs…my prayers (and your prayers, and the prayers of many people!).

This is hardly new. As a Christian, the Apostle Paul reminds me to do this:

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (TNIV)

I don’t have an ulterior motive, nor am I endorsing one candidate or party over another; I just pray that God leads this man or woman “to do justice, love mercy and to walk humbly with God“ (Micah 6:8) as a leader of the country that I live in, and as a leader and citizen in the human race. If this occurs, and I pray that it does, then perhaps good things will flow from the occupant of this high office.

So in closing, although my hope is in the Lord (Psalm 130:5), I pray that the eyes and heart of God would not be lost in the eyes and heart of this leader. Please join me in praying for the very best to come from our next President of the United States.
